Mid-2006:130 Nano-Tech based drugs
and delivery systems and 125 nano-devices or diagnostic tests
have entered preclinical, clinical or commercial development!
Surgery Nanoadvances:
JenLab GmbH, Germany achieved human
chromosome cut size of 85 nm by using femtosecond laser light.
.
Nanospectra Biosciences, Texas:
Nanoshells use plasmon resonance size effect that permits to
tune the absorption of light. The technology is used for
targeted drug delivery, to seal wounds together "laser tissue
welding" and to treat cancer cell by hyperthermal methods
without affecting the health cells.
Anson Group, China: Produce nanosilver dressings for burns that
kill the bacteria and prevent the
infections.

Nanodelivery for
Food and Cosmetics.
An enzyme could convert sugars in
the presence of olive oil to form nanoorganogels. They are
novel delivery systems for food preservatives, flavours, and
bioactive functional ingredients. the enzyme lipase B from
Candida antarctica (CALB) to form
esters of sugar trehalose. The trehalose diesters then
self-assemble into 3-D fibres measuring between 10 and 50
nanometers in diameter.
The
nano-organogels may find potential applications in the food
and cosmetics industries in where trehalose is routinely
used
