Nanoscale Research Letters
(NRL) is the first nanotechnology journal from a major
commercial publisher to publish articles with open access. NRL
provides an interdisciplinary forum for open communication of
scientific and technological advances in the creation and use
of objects at the nanometer scale. The journal crosses all
disciplines, and emphasizes research that seeks to uncover the
underlying science and behavior of nanostructures. Nano
Express are original research papers which publish
approximately eight weeks following submission. NRL also
welcomes Nano Reviews, Nano Ideas, and Nano Commentaries. For
an explanation of these article types, see Aims and Scope.10

In June 2006,
Rice University scientists published the first results of a
new technique to videotape individual carbon nanotubes that
uses standard optical microscopes and video cameras. The
technique uses a fluorescent dye trapped in the
surfactant molecule surrounding each nanotube. The
nanotubes - tiny cylinders of carbon no wider than a strand of
DNA - were filmed in a droplet of soapy water trapped between
two glass slides. Journal Physical Review
